This site uses two kinds of cookies / local storage. The first is strictly necessary to keep you signed in and remember your interface preferences, and cannot be turned off. The second is analytics: before you consent, Google Analytics runs in denied-storage mode โ it sets no cookies and creates no identifier that could recognise you, sending only a cookieless anonymous hit count; Microsoft Clarity is not loaded at all. Once you consent, both switch on full measurement. We use no advertising cookies, and we never sell or share your personal data with third parties.
Why we use analytics: this site is maintained by one person. Page views and heatmaps are how we work out which guides genuinely help, and where people give up halfway โ which in turn decides what gets written and fixed next. IP anonymization is enabled for Google Analytics; Clarity records anonymized mouse movement and click heatmaps but automatically masks the contents of input fields. Declining analytics changes nothing about how the site works.

You can reopen the preferences panel at any time via the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer to change whether analytics cookies are allowed. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be disabled, as they're required for login to function.
Most browsers also let you view, delete, or block cookies in their settings. Note that disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from staying signed in.
