The beaches are free; only two of these five actually sell tickets๏ผSanya's coastline is public. Sanya's three bays are three different holidays โ choose before you book a hotel๏ผThis is the decision that shapes the whole trip, and it is made when you book a room, not when you arrive. Yalong Bay has the best sand and the clearest water, and also the highest room rates and the thinnest choice of food โ most of it inside the resorts. Dadonghai sits against the city: swimmable, free, surrounded by hundreds of restaurants and bars, and roughly a third of Yalong's room prices. Sanya Bay faces due west, is closest to the airport and cheapest to sleep in, and is where the sunset is โ but its water is not the one to swim in. There is no metro linking them, so every bay-to-bay move is a 30-50 minute taxi. A common and sensible plan is to sleep where the food and transport are and make the best beach a day trip, rather than paying for a resort and then leaving it every morning.
Nanshan is far enough out that how you get there changes the cost๏ผA solo round trip by taxi to a site forty kilometres away is the most expensive way to see Nanshan, and it is the default people fall into. The sight is on Sanya's west coast, where two other well-known stops โ Tianya Haijiao and Daxiaodongtian โ sit reasonably close by, which is why the whole coast is normally done as one outing. Whether you charter a car or take a bus, deciding the shape of the west-coast day before you set off is worth more than optimising the ticket.

The statue is the reason you came; the Golden Guanyin hall, the main Nanshan temple hall and the Longevity Valley walks fall naturally into place on the way back.
The shuttle is the one optional charge worth taking๏ผNanshan covers a lot of ground and offers little shade, and the distance between the entrance and the statue is enough to matter in tropical heat. Riding out to the core and walking back is markedly easier than walking both ways, and it leaves you with energy for the parts of the park that actually reward slow looking. In summer this stops being a comfort question. Bring water and high-factor sunscreen regardless of how you move around.
